This guide is for instructors on Moodle and will go through first how to add the Mass Actions Block and how to use the Mass Actions Block on a Moodle Course.

Note: If you have the Mass Action Block on your course, and rename a section, or add a new section, you will need to delete the Mass Action Block, turn editing off, turn editing back on and then re-add the Mass Action block. A glitch occurs not allowing you to see the list of sections in the Mass Action blocks.

Adding A Mass Actions Block

  1. Log onto Moodle
  2. Select the Course 
  3. Turn editing on
  4. Scroll to the bottom of the page and locate the "Add A Block" block.
  5. Click the drop down menu for the "Add A Block" menu, and select "Mass Actions Block"

The page will refresh once it has been selected. It will show on the left hand side.

Using the Mass Actions Block

The Mass Actions Block allows you to move, copy, show, hide, or delete multiple or individual selected items into other sections. You can also move, copy, show, hide or delete entire sections as well.

  1. To select which items or items you would like to move click on the box next to the desired item or items.
  2. Go to the Mass Actions Block on the left hand side

    1. The Mass Actions Block allows you to delete item(s), move or duplicate item(s) into different sections, hide multiple item(s). 

Duplicating Item(s)

  1. Select the items you would like to duplicate
  2. Go to the Mass Actions Block on the left hand side

  3. Select the "Duplicate to section" drop-down menu and select the desired section to duplicate the items into.

Moving Item(s)

  1. Select the items you would like to move
  2. Go to the Mass Actions Block on the left hand side

  3. Select the "Move to section" drop-down menu and select the desired section to move the items into.

Showing & Hiding Item(s)

  1. Select the items you would like to show or hide
  2. Go to the Mass Actions Block on the left hand side
    1. Select "show" or "hide" to show or hide the items from a students view.
